Info Box
The Eurocopter site at Donauwörth celebrated its 60th anniversary and invited the families and friends of its 3700 employees for a Family Day. More than 40.000 visitors followed this invitation to get an impression of the high-tech helicopters and their production lines.

The highlight of this Family Day was the excellent flying display. During the display the BO105 and the BK117, two helicopters out of the MBB era which founded the success story of the Donauwörth site, showed that despite their age they are still compatible. And it was a BO105 operated by the Flying Bulls which gave the most stunning aerobatics display. Rainer Wilke performed maneuvers where even professional pilots seemed to be wondering how he did them.
The flying display gave also a complete picture of the full range of today's Eurocopter helicopters produced in Donauwörth: The EC135 as the most successful twin-engine helicopter in its class, the EC145 as the ideal helicopter for rescue, police and paramilitary operations and of course the two military helicopter Tiger and NH-90.
For the German Armed Forces Eurocopter in Donauwörth is offering a wide range of maintenance and upgrade programs comprising the Mk-41 (Sea King), the Mk-88 (Lynx) and the Sikorsky CH-53G which was also shown in the flying display.
But there were not only helicopter in the show, also the Messerschmitt Me-108, the Me-109 G6 and the famous Me-262 from the Messerschmitt Foundation came over from Manching to perform a magnificent display.

It's a pity that Eurocopter did its last Family Day almost 10 years ago and one can only hope it won't take another 10 years until the Eurocopter gates will open for such a great day like the Family Day 2006.
