The Aero Club Gundelfingen celebrated it's 75th anniversary with a weekend-long Airshow. Everybody who expected just a few small aircraft and sightseeing flights, was proofen to be wrong. The Airshow that was organized by this club was really impressing. The number of warbirds and other old flying boxes was surprising and doesn't need to step back behind events like the Oldtimer Meeting at the Hahnweide.
The club was founded in the year 1926 but it lasted until 1929 until the club owned his first glider, that was a homebuilt "Zögling". In the following years the number of gliders grew and aircraft like the "SG 38" or "Grunau Baby" completed the inventory. After World War II it became silent about flying at Gundelfingen due to the complete prohibition of flying in Germany after the war, that lasted until 1951. All pictures of this gallery were made on saturday, but the flying display was great on both days of the weekend. I hope this airshow wasn't the only one of it's type and other clubs may present a similar airshow in the future. The weather on this weekend perfectly matched the flying display with a cloudless beautiful blue sky. |
